Welcome to the memorial page for

Colleen Deloris Miller

September 18, 1930 ~ July 10, 2015 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Colleen Deloris Miller was born 1930 in Stroud, Oklahoma to Marion and Eugenia Curl.  She was the youngest of 6 children.  Colleen grew up in Olive, Oklahoma, a small unincorporated town in Creek County.  She was raised by her father on a small farm.  One of the memories she had growing up was going coon hunting with her dad and the sound of the barking dogs.  She also remembered picking cotton and okra.

Colleen attended a K-12 school in Olive, Oklahoma.   She graduated from high school in 1949. After high school Colleen moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she lived in the YWCA and worked as a secretary at an oil company.  Colleen attended First Baptist Church while living in Tulsa. There she met her future husband Clifton Douglas Miller.  They were married in an intimate ceremony in the pastor's office on August 30, 1957.

Doug and Colleen lived in Tulsa the first years of their marriage.  Their first child, Gregory Lynn Miller, was born in Tulsa in April 1959.  Soon after this, Doug and Colleen relocated their small family to Denver after Doug got a job with Martin Marietta.   In 1962 they welcomed their second child Mary Anne Miller.
Colleen worked as a domestic engineer (housewife).  She loved being a mom.   She also volunteered at the high school library, helped with elections, crafted, gardened and read.
Doug and Colleen were members of Calvary Baptist Church of Englewood, Colorado.  She attended this church over 50 years. During those years she taught Sunday school and helped in the church library.
Doug and Colleen enjoyed traveling which included trips to Hawaii, California, and Florida. Colleen really loved the ocean and enjoyed seeing the pelicans.  She had a collection of various pelican items.

One of the biggest joys in Colleen’s life was her 5 grandchildren.  She always enjoyed visiting with them and getting to go to their various activities when she could. She enjoyed watching Shirley Temple movies and going out to eat with them.

When Colleen’s health started to decline over the last year, she moved from her home of over 50 years to Sunrise at Pinehurst assisted living.  She really enjoyed living there and made several new friends. Colleen passed away peacefully on July 10, 2015 at Sunrise.

We would like to thank all who assisted with Colleen at Sunrise and the caring staff of Agape Hospice.

Colleen is preceded in death by her parents Marion and Eugenia Curl, her husband Clifton Douglas Miller, her 5 siblings Roy Curl, Faye Weaver, Forrest Curl, Charles Curl, and Opal Lundrigan.  She is survived by her son Greg Miller, his wife Molly, and their children Corrie, Tony and Grace; and her daughter Mary Link, her husband Dennis, and their children Dianna and Noah.
