Dr. Paul Edward Arther, 94, of Centennial, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017.
Paul was born January 16, 1923 in Wichita, KS, the son of George and Glenna Arther. He grew up in McClave, CO. He enlisted in the Army at the start of WWII and served in Europe from May, 1943 to October, 1945, assigned to the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) which became the CIA after the war concluded.
Paul fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was an awarded and decorated veteran.
At the conclusion of the war, he returned home to attend dental school under the GI bill at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann McClave, on Aug.17, 1947. Following graduation from dental school Paul opened his own dental office in Littleton, CO in 1955 where he practiced for over 35 years. He was active in the Littleton community with the Lion’s Club, Rotary, and First Presbyterian Church. Paul was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons, and working on various projects related to the family mountain home in Breckenridge. He was an accomplished private pilot enjoying leisure time “punching holes in clouds “. Above all Paul was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and an inspiration to his family.
Paul is survived by his children Robert Arther (Gail), Nancy Arther Jones (Jeff),
John Arther (Marilyn), grandchildren Andrew Arther (Anne), Laura Arther Ballard (Joseph), Rachel Arther, Ethan Arther, Mason Arther, and great grandchildren Henry and Matilda Arther, and June Ballard. He was preceded in death by Barbara, his wife of 56 years.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Littleton First Presbyterian Church, 1609 W Littleton Blvd, Littleton, CO 80120.
