Eldon Earl Jones Sr.

Eldon Earl Jones Sr. of Centennial, passed away October 4th, in his home where he lived with his wife, Mary Jones. Eldon was 76. Eldon’s parents had lived in the Englewood-Littleton area for many years and raised three children of whom Eldon was the youngest; and included his brother Evan, and his sister Wilma. Eldon attended Englewood High School and graduated in 1959. He later attended Colorado University. Eldon met and married his wife, Mary Ellen Rae, also a Colorado native, and they have three grown children, Melanie Jones-Dillon of Greenwood Village, Janet Jones-Gast of Aurora, and Eldon Jones Jr. of Centennial. Eldon worked for numerous engineering firms; among them were C. A. Norgren Co., Stearns-Roger, Stone & Webster, Raytheon, and The Shaw Group. Eldon loved Colorado; and he was interested in historic railroading and mining in the area, was a member of several museums in Colorado, and an avid photographer who was rarely seen without a camera around his neck. Eldon was loved and will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary; his three grown children, Melanie, Janet, and Eldon Jr.; his four beloved grandchildren, Jessie, Maddie, Ben, and Katie; and his sister, Wilma Jones-Stevenson of Centennial.
