Frank J. Hefestay of Centennial, CO, a retired engineer, passed away early Thursday morning the 19th of May 2016. He was 95 years old. A Catholic funeral mass is to be held at Drinkwine Chapel on Tuesday, May 24th at 1:30PM. Internment will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday night at Drinkwine from 5-7PM. A rosary will be prayed starting at 7PM.
He was born January 22, 1921 in Baltimore, Maryland. On February 15th 1941 he married Elizabeth Anne Parsons in Baltimore. She has predeceased him. On April 4th 1987 he married Bonnie Mae Gaskins in Littleton, CO. Frank served in the US Navy in the Pacific theater during WWII. He began his civilian career in 1939 with Lockheed Martin (formerly the Glenn L. Martin Company). He worked in aircraft manufacturing and engineering in Baltimore. He transferred to Martin-Denver in 1956 and continued in engineering on various missile programs until retirement in 1983.
He was a long-time parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed photography, traveling, reading and fishing.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Frank J. Jr. of Kearneysville, WV and Mark A. of Centennial, CO; and two daughters Elizabeth J. Otey of Leesburg, VA and, M. Frances Logsdon who predeceased him in 1980. He also had five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
