Guy Leone Sailors

Guy was born July 13, 1935 at his parents' home in Hamlet, NE--the first of three children born to Gerald and Hellen (Cross) Sailors. One of his earliest memories was swimming in the Frenchman River at 5 years old, with his mom and dad, and two little sisters: Wanda and Elsie.

The family moved to Littleton in 1941. Guy quickly became interested in sports, playing basketball in Jr. and Sr. High. In December of 1952, the new girl at school (Virgilia "Jill" Smith) came to watch a basketball game, and Guy's life was forever changed. The following spring, they attended the Twirp Season Dance, and their fairytale romance began.

Guy graduated from Littleton High School in 1953, and Jill followed suit a year later.  They were married on October 2, 1955 at Littleton Presbyterian Church. Their marriage was blessed with 2 children, Mark Patrick and Vicki Annette. A home with a fireplace and a puppy completed their dream.

Guy spent many years working at Genuine Auto Parts, where his incredible work ethic and people skills earned him a promotion to manager. He always made sure the shop's soda machine was well-stocked, in case his grandkids decided to run down the block and stop in to chat.

Guy's hobbies and interests included cheering on Colorado sports teams (especially his beloved Broncos), learning martial arts (and becoming so skilled that he taught classes for local police officers), and anything that allowed him to spend quality time with his cherished family - fishing, camping, barbecues, and family get-togethers.

Preceded in death by his parents and his son, Guy is survived by his loving wife; a daughter, Vicki Saenger; sisters Elsie (Keith) Strait and Wanda Bomar; 5 grandchildren: Mark (Katie), Alishia (Rory), Jeramie, Jenny (Gary) and Jessi(Nathan); 15 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, beloved aunts Jan and Thelma, numerous cousins and friends.
