Harry Gordon Jenkins passed away on March 12, 2017 at Sunrise Assisted Living. He was born February 19th, 1921 to Sydney and Beatrice Jenkins in London, England. He is preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, beloved wife Joan and great grandson James. Harry is survived by his only daughter, Diana Brandt (Rich), grand children Scott Brandt-Suitts (Barbara), Michele Buntin (Kelly) and four great grand daughters, Sophia, Julia, Tiffany, Kerri. Harry served in the Royal Air Force during World War 11 as a pilot. He was shot down over London during the Battle of Britain and received severe injuries. After the war he spent his life as an Electrical Engineer within the confines of Telecommunications. His work took him to many parts of the world. In 1975 he retired as COO for Plessey at 55 to emigrate to the USA to be near his daughter and Grand children. He started a new career in medical durable equipment in electronic design including the baby bird incubator retiring at 70.
Memorial services will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 at Drinkwine Family Chapel at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for charitable donations to be made to JDRF (Type 1 Diabetes Research Funding and Advocacy) in the name of their youngest grand daughter Julia Buntin care of Diana Brandt. She is now nearly 16 and has had type 1 diabetes since 4 years of age.
