Irene H. Barker

Irene H. Barker, 89, passed away March 21, 2017.  Irene Hattie Saine Powell Barker, was born on September 14, 1927 to Cora Belle and Louis Saine in Barnard, Kansas.  Irene was preceded in death by her husband Carroll D. Barker, her parents, two brothers, two sisters and her precious granddaughter Deanna M. Powell.

She is survived by her loving sister Mary Louise Walters of Littleton, and her four children: Alan E. Powell and wife Jan of Kingman, Arizona, Jerrolyn D. Powell of Yuma, Arizona, Daryl L. Powell of Chandler, Arizonia, and Marilyn C. Pierce and husband Randy of Littleton, Colorado, as well as 6 grandsons: Jeremy W. Pierce, Bryan K. Pierce, Dennis M. Powell, Robert A. Powell, James M. Powell and David L. Hummell, Jr.,  17 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

Irene graduated from Englewood High School and lived in Englewood from 1942 until 1981.  She was active in her church and worked as a secretary in the automotive industry.  She lead a very active life as a busy homemaker, she loved sewing and crafts, camping, rock hounding and fishing. She and Carroll enjoyed traveling.

In 1981 she married Carroll Baker and resided in Arvada, Colorado until 2003 at the time of Carroll's death.  She returned to the Englewood area to be near her children. She was a resident at Cherrelyn Nursing Home for four years and passed away following a long illness.

She will be greatly missed by all of her family.

A viewing is scheduled at Drinkwine Family Mortuary for Saturday April 1st from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the family will be celebrating her life at that time.
