Joan Winona Nuzum Meister

 Dec. 9, 1932- Jan. 25, 2017

Joan resided in Littleton.  She was the daughter of James Ward and Maurine Elizabeth Nuzum (deceased). Born in Des Moines, IA, she attended Roosevelt High School where she was on the swim and track teams. She met her future husband, Fred, while at Roosevelt. She and Fred were married in 1949. They became the parents of four daughters before making the move to Colorado in 1960 where they would make their permanent home. With four daughters, Joan became an experienced seamstress.  She was member of a Red Hats group in which she enjoyed being with many of her friends.  In addition, she volunteered many hours delivering meals to home bound elderly through   Meals on Wheels. Her tireless effort also included countless hours as a Colorado delegate for President Ronald Reagan.  She loved to travel including making trips to Ireland where she was fortunate to meet some of her Irish relatives. Later, Joan found her career calling in real estate. And, after 40 years, she was still talking real estate just prior to her passing.  She had an amazing memory.

Besides her husband, Fred, of 67 years, she is survived by her daughters : Kathryn Matlock(Garrette), Kelly Maldonado (Lee), and Karol Holland(Jim). She was pre deceased by their daughter Kim Bonham(Lane). Grandsons: Dan, Brian, Michael, Christian and Alex. Great grandchildren: Kirsten, Cabe and Taelynn

She was a wonderful wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Arrangements pending.
