Joyce “Coleene” Koehler

Coleene Koehler, 82, of Littleton, Colorado passed away from natural causes on September 15, 2015 at 

Aspen Siesta Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Drinkwine Mortuary 

Chapel.  Pastor Phil Green will officiate.  There will be an interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery at a 

later date.  

Coleene was born in Lacey Springs, Alabama on November 1, 1932.  Her family moved to Denver when 

she was 10 years old.  She graduated from Englewood High School and went on to study stenography.  

She worked as an administrative assistant in the banking and newspaper industries before raising her 

children, and then again until she retired.

She married Gerald “Jerry” Koehler in 1951, and they had 53 happy years together before his death in 

2003.  They had two children, five grandchildren, and one little angel.  The family continues to be 

blessed with the addition of great-grandchildren.

Coleene loved to sew and scrapbook.  She worked as a volunteer in the office at Fort Logan Hospital 

after her retirement.  Jerry and Coleene also enjoyed traveling; they visited Texas, Missouri, the west 

coast, and took cruises to Mexico and the Caribbean.  She later vacationed in Keystone, Boston, 

Breckenridge, and Hawaii with her children.

Coleene is survived by her children Terri (David) Brannan and Jerry (Sandra) Koehler; grandchildren Eric 

(Liz) Monsma, Megan (Tyler) Brookhart, Malinda (Matt) Ray, Christa (Zack) Rowland and Jeffrey Koehler; 

and her great-grandchildren, Ella, Cody, Landon, Caleb and Evan.  She was preceded in death by her husband, 

Jerry; parents Earline and Japhey; and stepfather, Harry.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the activity fund for the residents at Aspen Siesta 

Nursing Home. The family would like to thank the staff at Aspen Siesta for the loving care they provided 

for Coleene over the past 15 months.
