Julia Alice Garland

July 31, 1971 ~ August 23, 2017 (age 46) 46 Years Old

Julia Alice Garland of Denver, CO passed away on August 23. She was born on July 31, 1971 in Oakland, California the youngest of two children.

Her early childhood years were spent in Orinda, CA. Road trips each summer to Colorado to visit family, camping throughout the West, and once across the country to Maine; sparked a love for travel. A family move to Littleton, when she was 10, brought the opportunity for more trips through the Rockies and skiing. In high school Julie excelled in art and took her first cake decorating class. She studied drawing at the University of Denver, while earning a BA in geography with a Spanish minor in 1994. She worked on the D.U. campus till 2007 when she moved to Seattle, where she put her design talents to work showcasing culinary merchandise. Transitioning into regional sales allowed her to move back to Denver in 2010, so she could be closer to her ailing mother, and continue exploring the Rocky Mountain states.

Her passions included visiting new places, creating meticulous artwork, enjoying the music of her favorite band, and Louie her English bulldog. All who knew her remember the parties she hosted and elaborate cakes she created celebrating any and all occasions. She was a friend to all and loved introducing any new acquaintance to her ever expanding circle.

Julie is survived by her brother Jeff (Wendi), nieces, nephews, and a host of devoted friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23rd at 2:00 at Littleton Cemetery, 6155 South Prince Street, Littleton, CO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
