Welcome to the memorial page for

Marian Ladon Arndt

October 23, 1921 ~ May 9, 2016 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Marian Arndt, 94, and a long-time Englewood, Colorado resident, left us to join her husband on May 9, 2016.  Marian was born in Centralia, Illinois in 1921. After dancing her way through the Big Band Era, she married and had her first child there. With her husband, Tubby, and son, Larry, she moved to Englewood, Colorado in the 1950’s. Her daughter, Patti, was born in Colorado, and Marian resided with her family on South Cherokee Street for many years. In 1978, she moved to the Cherokee Kivas and was the building’s first resident. She lived at the Kivas for almost 40 years, up until her death, and made many life-long friends.

Marian was known as an amazing homemaker and her husband often said “She raised good kids and good dogs”.  She loved beautiful things, had wonderful taste, and took great pride in decorating her home and maintaining her family in champagne style - on less than a champagne budget. Her shopping and bargain-hunting skills were unsurpassed. She was a skilled seamstress, enjoyed knitting and other crafts, loved reading, followed the Broncos, Rockies and (professional golfer) Fred Couples and, like her Dad before her, was lucky in cards – especially pinochle. She bowled for many years, again making life-long friends along the way, and carried a 170 or better average well into her 70’s.  She worked for several years at Gifts and Gems in the old Bear Valley Shopping Center – the perfect job for someone who loved jewelry (and for a jewelry-loving daughter). Most of all, Marian loved her family and was loved by her family.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Mable and Dan Kelly, and her husband, Dwain (Tubby) Arndt. She is survived and will be missed by her son Larry Arndt of Arvada (daughter-in-law, Sue Arndt), her daughter Patti Arndt of Denver (son-in-law, Charlie Chaney), her brother, Don Kelly of Centralia, Illinois (sister-in-law, Micky), her niece, Kandy Fischer of Centralia, Illinois, and her nephew, Danny Kelly of Las Vegas, Nevada. She also leaves two, cherished granddaughters, Laurie Newton of Arvada and Kelly Sorensen of Firestone, and four great-grandchildren (Joshua, Jacob, Ashton and Novalie) – and Springer Spaniel, Buddy.
