NAGLE, MARY JANE
4/5/1929 – 9/18/2015
Known to almost all as “Midge,” she enjoyed a rich and full life and was loved dearly by friends and family. She was a truly devout Catholic that, at the time of her death, was planning a trip to Philadelphia to visit extended family and to “see the Pope” on his visit to the U.S. Her greatest passion throughout her retirement years was serving at her church, St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Midge always knew to which saint to pray to help deal with life’s challenges.
Midge was raised on the East Coast and attended Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. While there, she met her future husband Ed Nagle, married in 1950, and followed him to Colorado 1959. They were the first of their families to move West and never looked back. Having been an only child, imagine the challenge she faced raising their seven children together! After meeting that challenge with true grace and humor, she and Ed enjoyed wonderful retirement adventures to Ireland, Spain, Poland, Alaska and Mexico with friends and Ed’s siblings and spouses. Midge later made a truly memorable trip with her daughter, Lee, to Rome and Assisi. Midge and Ed especially enjoyed the many high-spirited, noisy backyard family gatherings.
Midge was preceded into heaven by her husband, Ed, and her grandson, Andy. She is survived by all of her seven children – Laurie (Larry) Evans, Gene (Debbie), Lee, Ned (Peggy), Sallie (Mike) Struewing, Eric, and Chris (Brian) Popke. She also is survived by 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The Rosary will be shared on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:00 PM at Drinkwine Mortuary at 999 W. Littleton Blvd., Littleton, CO. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, September 24 at 11:30 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 8035 S. Quebec St., Centennial, CO. Reception to follow in McCallin Hall at the church.
Please remember her in your prayers as she always remembered us in hers. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to Little Sisters of the Poor or Denver’s Samaritan House.
