In Memory of Orlinda Valdez
May 30, 1931 - May 12, 2016
Born in Ojo Caliente, New Mexico Orlinda was one of 11 children born to Veronica and Isidro Valdez. Orlinda was born a fraternal twin to her twin sister Elia. At the age of 18 she moved to Denver where she later met her loving husband of 56 years, Richard Valdez.
Orlinda was the very definition of a true “Lady” from the way that she spoke to how she carried herself. Her spirit was quiet and compassionate. Although small in stature, her faith in God and the Love in her heart were huge. Orlinda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. The doors to her home were always welcoming to those who entered. When you came to her home she made sure you never left hungry, sharing or cooking whatever she had. A lot of the family remembers her Sunday Pot Roast and homemade Gravy! Love poured out of this little woman for her immediate family as well as her extended family and friends.
Many knew her by "Nini", a name given to her by her nephew Stan. Nini loved music, and she loved to dance. She played the accordion and piano by ear. After her house was spotless she would sit herself down at her piano and start playing. Sometimes she would play and her beloved husband Richard would join in, in song. Nini loved children, so much that she babysat for countless children over the years. To this day some of those children she cared for still keep in touch.
Nini lived her life with strength and grace. She accepted whatever the day brought and continued to live her best life, even during the last several years as she suffered with her disease.
Jesus, the Angels and her Honey have welcomed her with open arms into the Kingdom of Heaven. She was loved and will be missed dearly.
Orlinda is survived by her children; Kathi, Eileen, and Jack (wife) Cindy, Grandchildren; Justine, Aaron, Nick, and Erica, Siblings; Elia Archuleta (Fred), Rose Montoya (Charles), Isaac Vadez (Susie) and numerous nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her husband; Richard Valdez, her mother; Veronica Gonzales Valdez her father; Isidro Valdez her siblings; Ernestine, Elaisa, Eddie, Alice, Grace, Artudo, and Eliza.
