Paul Daniels Morrell

July 1, 1926 ~ December 1, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Paul was born July 1, 1926. in the Bronx of New York City.  He was the youngest child of Ralph and Pauline Morrell.  He graduated from De Witt Clinton High School in 1944.  He was appointed as a cadet midshipman in the U S Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.  He was assigned to the oil tanker, Cornell, and made weekly trips between Venezuela and the Halifax, Canada refinery.  Later the Cornell supplied high octane gasoline to the aircraft carriers in the Pacific. 

Paul attended New York university Engineering School and worked for the NYU high balloon development vehicle project, designed to detect atomic bomb explosions.  In 1949 Paul married Caryl Elaine Fintel.  They had their wedding reception at the Faculty Club after they were married at the University Heights Presbyterian Church.  Their marriage has always been a love affair with so many happy memories.

In 1949, Paul joined Johns Mansville company in the New England sales office.  Paul joined the Army and earned his commission in the Corp of Engineers during the Korean war.  After the war he returned to Johns Manville for a very successful 32-year career cumulating as Vice President of Sales.  

Paul retired from Johns Manville and started his own mining equipment sales business.  Morrell Associates, Inc., was very successful until Paul fully retired in 2005.

In his retirement years, Paul enjoyed skiing and golf.  He drove for the Colorado Institute of the Blind, mentored Goddard Middle School students about mechanical engineering/ physics, and read to the 2- to 5- year- old children at Ralph Hopkins Elementary School.

Paul has outlived all of his birth family.  Caryl, his loving wife of 68 years, was caring for him.  David, his son, lives in Littleton and has been a wonderful help every day.  Lydia, his daughter, has lived on Cape Cod for the past 20 years and is not able to travel.

Paul has led an exemplary life and will be sorely missed by his family friends and fellow optimists.

Funeral services will be held at Littleton United Methodist Church on Wednesday December 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
