Welcome to the memorial page for

Phyllis Anne Darrow

March 21, 1923 ~ November 22, 2015 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Longtime Littleton resident Phyllis "Penny" Darrow passed away on November 22, 2015, at the age of 92. She was born in Chicago, IL, the only child of Joseph and Adeline Kedroski. After attending secretarial school in Chicago, in 1944 Penny married her high school sweetheart, Eugene "Gene" Darrow.

Penny and Gene moved to Littleton in 1956, when Gene was transferred for his job at Martin Company (now Lockheed Martin). Prior to that, when Gene was in the Army, they were assigned to several posts, including Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Formosa (now called Taiwan).

Penny enjoyed the travel and adventure of the military life and for many years she gave slide show presentations for interested organizations about the family's time in Taiwan.

Penny was active in the community, volunteering with the Salvation Army's Booth Memorial Auxiliary, performing with several choral groups, and serving on the newsletter committee for St. Mary's Catholic Church.  After the newsletter was discontinued the women from the newsletter committee continued to meet and became the Star Ladies, a group that supported one another's passion for creative writing. Later in life, Penny rekindled her love for travel, taking a number of trips through Elderhostels.  She also began developing her artistic talents by taking classes in water coloring. After Gene's retirement, they both began volunteering with the Littleton Senior Center and MARS, an association for retirees of Martin Company.

First and foremost, Penny was a wife, mother, and homemaker. Her children valued her curiosity, sense of adventure, and her capacity to have fun even in challenging situations. She is survived by her husband Gene and her five children: Alexa Burns of Everett, WA, Fred of Dumont CO, Stasia of Kent, WA, Joe of Boulder CO, and Richard of Canon City CO. She also leaves two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A viewing at 10:30 and funeral Mass at 11:00 will be held on Monday, November 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
