Mr. Z. was well loved at Highland. My daughter had the privilege of learning with him in 3rd grade with Mrs. Yabrove. Kaylie will miss seeing him around and I'm sad that my younger daughter Rylie won't ever get to work with him. He truly was special. God bless those he left behind.

Mr. Z was an amazing volunteer at our school. He took his job seriously yet added in humor whenever possible. Our students and teachers with whom he worked benefited from his positive attitude and zest for life. I don't believe I ever saw him without a contagious smile on his face. He will be missed at Highland. Sending prayers to his family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a kind, gentle soul who always was upbeat and positive. I didn't work with him directly other than pass him in the halls or see him working with kids but his gentle spirit was evident. My prayers go with your family.

Although I never had the privilege of having Mr. Z as a volunteer in my classroom, I loved our chats in the teacher workroom. He amazed me with his energy and zest for life. He was a beloved member of our school family. As much as I will miss him, I celebrate having known such a wonderful human being!

Rich, aka, Mr. Z served as a volunteer at Highland Elementary for the past 21 years. I had the honor of having him become my classroom 20 years ago. He loved working with the kids, helping the staff, and being such an important part of our school family. Rich traveled with me through 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and ending up in first grade for the past several years. He was loved by all of the students and staff. During these two decades, Rich became a part of my life outside of school. He attended family events, supported me and my husband through the trials and tribulations of raising a child with special needs. He laughed with us and cried with us. There are so many people whose lives were bettered by their relationship with this incredible man. He may not have been large in stature but he was large in life. It is comforting to know that Joan has patiently waited for the love of her life, yet selfishly I wish it wasn't this soon. You will forever be my favorite "Q-tip". Thank you for all the blessings you bestowed on me and the students of Highland.

I work at Highland Elementary where Mr. Z was a volunteer. He always had a smile on his face while helping the kids and they really loved working with him. He had a great spirit and will be greatly missed at our school. He was a great example of how we should all treat each other, with respect and kindness.

My condolences to his family and friends.
