Bob was born in Dorchester, MA over 91 years ago.  His family moved to Chicago when he was 12. At 14, he & his younger brother, Bill, learned to sail and got their first sail boat. Bob started college, and then left college to join the Navy during World War II. When the war was over, he returned to college & graduated from DePaul University. He married his college sweetheart, Kathleen Law. They had three children:  Doug, Paul Robert, and Julia.

After college, Bob became the youngest Executive hired by General Electric Company. He was a speech writer for Executives. He also was assigned to work with Ronald Reagan who did TV Advertising for G.E. Reagan proved early on to be "the great communicator". Bob saw this as he watched the communication with both factory workers and Executives.

Inspired by an earlier trip thru the west, Bob left G.E. to move his family to Evergreen, Colorado. In Evergreen, Bob started an electronics company named Duka-Richardson. In a basement he designed & built (switchers) with his engineer partner which they sold to TV Stations. Just when their company was taking off with success, Bob's wife suddenly died of cancer.

Two years later after selling the company, Bob made one last trip to New York to represent the company at a convention. He hired a model to demonstrate how a (switcher) works. Thru the model, he met Carol Ann Brunsell who became his wife in April, 1979. Bob & Carol shared a love of outdoor sports including sailing and snow skiing.

As Bob's three kids grew up and married, one of his greatest joys was spending time with his five grandchildren Nic, Ben, Connor, Allison & Fergus. Bob & Carol loved attending  sports and outside school activities with the kids. Many fond memories were made skiing, swimming, golfing, and white water rafting with the kids.

When Bob and Carol married, each of their backgrounds pointed towards a career in real estate where they could enjoy working with people and create a schedule that would allow time for their love of skiing & sailing. When Bob retired from his real estate, he continued to help Carol with her real estate clients to the present.

In 1998, Carol convinced Bob if they would move to Grant Ranch he could get a sailboat. Suddenly moving was a good idea! He wasted no time finding a sailboat and restored it for the lake across from their new patio home. After that his next project was to build a beautiful a 16-foot cedar canoe by himself.

The last several years he continued his wood working hobby making rolling pins for family & friends on his wood lathe. He finished his last rolling pin in April, 2015 which he gave to his kidney doctor, Dr. Bruce Fisch, while in Sky Ridge Hospital on May 8th, just a month ago.
