Welcome to the memorial page for

Teresa Dorothy 'Ruby' Winters

January 21, 1932 ~ July 7, 2016 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Teresa Dorothy "Ruby" Winters

Teresa was born January 21st, 1932 to Russell and Helen Reeme in the small town of Tate, Saskatchewan, Canada. She passed into eternal life in Englewood, Colorado on July 7th, 2016. She was the only sister to three brothers Ronald, Harvey and Russell (Rusty), all of whom immigrated with their parents to the United States when Teresa was about 12 years old.

At her mother's side Teresa learned to keep a warm home, make a delicious rice crispy treat, and cook a mean pot of chicken & dumplings, three things that would come in handy when she married Guy Winters in 1952 and when they established their own family in the following years.

Teresa was a loving wife and doting mother, first to her children and then to her grandchildren. Her love of kids extended beyond her family to her career as a lunch lady with Cherry Creek schools. She always spoke with great fondness of her school kids, how much she's enjoyed providing meals for them at breakfast and lunch, and how well they treated her in return.

Along with Guy, Teresa was an active bowler for many years on the Thursday night, Gates Rubber Company, Mixed Bowling League at Crown Lanes on Federal Blvd in Denver, where they made many lifelong friends before passing the torch on to her children who all played on the league at some point. In later years she even donated her bowling balls to her granddaughters so that they might take up the sport.

Teresa will be remembered for many things, her ability to make a delicious gravy, her inability to teach her daughter and granddaughter to crochet, both of whom can only manage one really long row. Teresa was brilliant with a crochet needle though, and the world is a warmer place because of it. She will also be remembered as mother, neighbor and friend. Someone who was sometimes a fierce protector, sometimes hot tempered, but was always, always quick to smile.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Helen Reeme as well as her brothers Ronnie, Harvey and Russell. Guy departed in October of 2009 after 57 years of marriage and her family is consoled in knowing that they are together again. Theresa is survived by her children; Melinda Winters, Dan (Anita) Winters, Peggy (Blair) Bredehoft all of Englewood, and her granddaughters Nicole Winters of Florence, AL and Ashley Winters of Littleton.
Funeral Services will be held graveside, at Littleton Cemetery, Littleton, Colorado, on Friday, July 15th, 2016 at 11am. Reception to be held the same afternoon at 1:30pm at the family home.
