Welcome to the memorial page for

Virginia Lea Kershner

February 19, 1925 ~ May 22, 2016 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Virginia Lea Kershner, of Englewood completed her earthly journey on May 22, 2016 and transitioned to heaven where she had a large crowd celebrating her arrival. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Flora Davis; her adoring husband, Robert C. "Bob" Kershner; and her three younger siblings, Bryan Davis, Flo Lunsford (Cecil), and Shirley Fletcher.

She temporarily leaves behind three incredibly lucky sons: Mike Kershner (Lou) of Clifton, VA; Steve Kershner (Laurie) of Richmond, VA; and John Kershner of Denver, CO.

She also leaves beautiful memories of her remarkable soul & personality with 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Virginia was born on February 19, 1925 in Carlsbad, NM.  She met Bob in Lubbock, TX, after his return from World War II.  They lived in Clovis, NM until 1966, when they moved to Englewood.

Virginia started her career in the banking industry in Colorado with Englewood State Bank, which is now part of Wells Fargo. She cherished the many friends she made while working and maintained close contact with many of her former colleagues after she retired.

She was a devoted member of the Spirit of Hope United Methodist Church and counted many of the congregation as close, treasured friends.

Virginia was a gifted artist and enjoyed painting, particularly scenes from the West that she lived in and loved so much. But her greatest joy by far was spending time with her family and friends. Her incredible upbeat personality and constant smile were her hallmarks. She enriched the lives of everyone she met and she truly made the world a better place. She was one of a kind.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aspen Siesta for all the care & love she received while there. We would also like to thank the staff at Sloans Lake Rehabilitation Center and Porter Adventist Hospital for their very professional and caring treatment of Virginia. It is comforting to know she is now walking around and talking with everyone she meets in heaven.
