Wayne Arthur Buehrer

Wayne A. Buehrer passed away peacefully with his family at his side on July 27, 2017, at the age of 81. Wayne served 35 years with the U.S. government in the US Geological Survey, Bureau of Land Management and the Foreign Service. Born in the small town of Shelton, Neb., Wayne yearned to travel. He fulfilled that wish in the early 1970s when he and his family spent two years in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with the US Geological Society and traveled to the Middle East, Europe, and what was then the country of Ethiopia. During his 10 years with the Foreign Service, he and his wife Judi lived in Moscow, Russia; Bangkok, Thailand; and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The couple enjoyed more adventures traveling in those regions, including a trek in Nepal. Wayne was a mountain man at heart. As a young man, he ascended several 14ers and became a technical climber, tackling several intimidating formations. His interests turned to cycling in the 1980s and he signed up for Ride the Rockies, RAGBRI and the Ride Across Nebraska. In his later years, Wayne focused on photography and enjoyed making slide shows and albums of the couple’s trips over the last 16 years. Wayne’s warm smile and wry sense of humor will be missed by his friends and family: wife, Judi; children David Buehrer, Chris Buehrer and Heidi Snyder; six grandchildren, nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. A Memorial Service will held on August 13, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Columbine United Church, 6375 S Platte Canyon Rd, Littleton, CO 80123.
