Welcome to the memorial page for

William Warren Terry

April 13, 1935 ~ August 12, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Bill Terry died on August 12, 2017, at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and his children Doug of Littleton and Cheri of Westminster and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Terry Chambers as well as his parents.

He was born on April 13, 1935 to Warren J. Terry and Sarah (Sally) Frances Orr in Denver. Bill was a fifth generation Coloradoan. His paternal great-great grandfather, Seth Terry, was one of the founding fathers of Longmont and was affiliated with the Chicago Colony. This prompted Bill's interest in Colorado history and led to his hobby of genealogy and family history. Bill often traveled across the country and Great Britain to research clues related to his ancestors.

Bill graduated from South High School in 1953, and he joined the Navy in 1954, serving as a Gunner's Mate on the U.S.S. Hancock in the South Pacific. In 1959, he married Shirley Jean Tucker of Littleton. Bill was employed with U.S. West Communications for 34 years before retiring in 1992.

In respect of Bill's last wishes, there will be no services. He requested cremation, and was interred at Ft. Logan National Cemetery and a private service was held.  Anyone wishing may make a donation in his name to Porter's Hospice - 5020 E. Arapahoe Rd., Centennial, CO 80122. He will be loved and missed by many individuals who had the opportunity to capture pieces of that kind, generous and loving soul. Rest in peace, Bill.
