Myrna L. Mason, 76, of Littleton, Colorado, died February 25, 2010.
Mrs. Mason was born October 29, 1933 in Hartford, Connecticut.
She spent her summers at the Long Island Sound in Old Saybrook, CT. She loved diving off the Indiantown Inlet bridge and beachcombing. After graduating from Hartford High School, she worked briefly for Aetna Life Insurance. In 1953, she joined the U. S. Navy. While serving at Great Lakes Naval Station, she met and married Thomas Clinton Mason, himself a member of the U. S. Navy. They had four children together and after several duty stations, the Mason’s settled in Littleton to raise their family.
She enjoyed painting and crafts, collecting gnomes and exploring the Colorado mountains and spending time with her family. She was also an avid sports fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her children; Tom of Fraser, CO, Carolyn of Littleton, Brian (Ruth) of Bremerton, WA, and Jeff (Nickie) of Littleton; six grandchildren (Robert, Brianne, Debbie, Adam, Daniel, Amanda); three great-grandchildren (Rayden, Riley, Zachary); friend and adopted daughter, Jan Witzke; her brother Henry; her beloved aunt Fanchon and cousin Nancy as well as other family members on the East Coast.
Visitation will be at Drinkwine Family Mortuary on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 2pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery, staging area "A".
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rocky Mountain Stroke Association or the Disabled Veterans of America.
