Ardelle Wintheiser Obituary

   ARDELLE CATHERINE WINTHEISER

Ardelle Catherine Wintheiser was born on December 22, 1920, to Nicholas C. Weber and Matilda C. Simonett Weber in LeSueur Center (LeCenter), Minnesota.  She passed away at the age of 98 years, 8 months on September 5, 2019, at home in Englewood, CO.

Ardelle was raised in LeCenter and later went to the University of Minnesota where she received her degree in Home Economics in 1942.  During her college years she assisted in the research of penicillin, which was a cutting-edge drug at the time.  On October 14, 1944, in New Jersey, she married Army Air Force Staff Sergeant Harold David Wintheiser who was from LeCenter and had gone to school with Ardelle.  They were married for 69 years.
After WWII, Ardelle and Harold spent time in New Jersey, Maine, Minnesota, Indiana;  finally settling in Englewood, CO when Harold accepted an electrical engineering job with the Martin-Marietta Company (Lockheed Martin) in 1958.  She continued to reside in Englewood for 61 years even after Harold’s passing in 2014.  She was a member of All Souls Catholic Church for 61 years.  She loved her faith.

Ardelle enjoyed being able to use her college skills as a homemaker.  She often volunteered at her parish churches.  She was also a Girl Scout co-leader and many, many times served as a room mother at her children’s schools.  She instilled in all of her children a love for education.  Her proudest accomplishment was her full family.  She often said, “I’ve had a good life and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

She and Harold had four children:  Dr. Robert Weber Wintheiser (Peggy), Susan Catherine Wintheiser, Karen Marie Michie (Keith) and Jan Ann Marie Hockenberry (Bernard).  Six grandchildren:  Karie Ann Kraemer (Jason) and Kendra Sue Neal (John Philip);  Kenneth Owen Michie (Kristin) and Kurtis David Alexander Michie (Dana);  Nichole Cherie Hockenberry and Justin Bernard Hockenberry.  Eleven great grandchildren:  Makayla, Carter and Hannah Kraemer:  Kayleigh, Tyler and Lauryn Neal;  Lucas, Riley, and Mason Michie;  Cole and Madelynn Michie.

A private family service will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to TLC Meals On Wheels at 7300 S. Clermont Dr., Centennial, CO. 80122.

Ardelle was able to stay in her own home because of this program.  The volunteers were so thoughtful, caring and helpful to her. Each day Ardelle always looked forward to their visits. She appreciated each and every one of them.
