Welcome to the memorial page for

Brenda Johnston Blickenstaff

September 15, 1953 ~ January 28, 2017 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Brenda Murrie Johnston (Blickenstaff) went to be with the lord Saturday, January 28, 2017.  She  was born September 15, 1953 to Milton and Maxine Johnston in Boise, Idaho.

She graduated Boise High School in 1971.

Brenda married David Blickenstaff in 1980 and moved to Indiana.  In July of 1981 they welcomed Brandon Michael into their lives.  They moved to Iowa in 1983 and there they welcomed Derrick Bradley.  With their two boys in tow, they relocated their last time to Pueblo West, Colorado where they put down roots.  Brenda was lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom while the boys were young. She was a fierce advocate for special needs and opened many doors for Derrick during his youth.

As the boys got into school, she became the Executive Director of the Pueblo Association of Home Builders.  This is where she discovered her love of Real Estate.  In 1990 she attained her Real Estate license.  She was a Broker for ReMax Associates.

She served on many boards in the community, including: Colorado Blue Sky (a non-profit organization that insures safe care for handicapped infants and adults), Pueblo West Committee of Architecture, School District 70 Board of Special Education, and the Pueblo Association of Home Builders.  She started the Pueblo Home and Garden show and the Pueblo Parade of Homes.  She was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4471.

Brenda’s life was brightened with the addition of her grandchildren.  Max, Alydia, and Lilie kept her on her toes always wondering what they were going to do next.  Brenda was fortunate enough to get to spend a lot of time with Max when he was little.  She enjoyed the addition of Alydia and Lilie to her family.  She was always excited to share the wonderful memories she was making.  In her free time Brenda love gardening, cooking, and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Milton Johnston.  She is survived by the joys of her life, her two sons, Brandon (Rachel) and Derrick Blickenstaff, lifelong friend and boys’ dad David Blickenstaff, grandchildren (Alydia, Max, and Lilie), her mom Maxine Johnston, brothers Guy (Linda) Johnston, Blaine (Roberta) Johnston, Brett (Vicki) Johnston, sister Chris (Harvey) Braun, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and close friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Ecumenical Church Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4471, 348 S. McCulloch Dr. in Pueblo West.  In lieu of flowers donations could be made to Colorado Blue Sky in the name of David Blickenstaff. 359 W. Pin High Dr. Pueblo West CO, 81007.
