Darlene A. Thorndyke

Darlene A. Thorndyke, age 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 15, 2018 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was born October 1, 1939 to Donald & Priscilla Richter of Littleton. She is a fourth generation born and raised. Darlene attended Littleton Public schools from Kindergarten thru 12th grade, where she graduated from Littleton High school in the spring of 1958. She was involved in G.A.A, Pep Club, and FHA. On July 11, 1958, Darlene married Gerald “Jerry” Thorndyke at her family home on Datura St. in Littleton.  She was involved in many organizations such as Rainbow for Girls and Eastern Stars. Her involvement in Rainbow Girls lead her to become the Mother advisor. She was also involved in 4H with her 3 children. She worked as a secretary for multiple school districts including Arapahoe, and Douglas Counties. In Washington County, she worked as the economic developer and oversaw public transportation for 6 counties.  She enjoyed camping and hanging out with family and friends. Her favorite hobby was shopping.

She is survived by her loving husband Jerry of 60 years, their Children Debra, Cari (Jim), Jay (Jennifer)Thorndyke. Several nieces and nephews.  Seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Donald & Priscilla Richter, her brother Ronnie Richter and nephew Randy Richter.

Funeral services are Friday, July 13, 2018 at 10:00am at Chapel Hill in the Masonic Gardens 6601 S. Colorado Blvd, Centennial, Co 80121.
