Donald Fry Obituary

D. Stewart “Stew” Fry

4/17/1942 – 9/1/2018

Born in South Dakota, Stew proclaimed himself a Colorado native after moving to the State at the age of 12. He was a graduate of Littleton High School and Denver University with a degree in Accounting and a Master of Tax. Stew joined the Army after High School and served with the Military Police, where he found he had the knack for telling other people what to do.  The rest of his military career was spent with the Colorado National Guard where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonial. Professionally, Stew worked for most of his career in the Insurance industry as an Executive and Vice President with The Maryland Company and retiring with Zurich North America.

Stew loved wine tasting, hiking, travel (made it to 49 states) golf, bridge, tennis, skiing, pretending to enjoy bicycling and admiring and driving Porches. A big fan of music, Stew was in the right place at the right time to see The Beatles at Red Rocks, the infamous Monterrey Music Festival and also to attend Super Bowl XXXII where he witnessed the Denver Broncos victory against the Green Bay Packers (final score Elway’s Broncos- 31 to Favre’s Packers- 24, in case you forgot).

Stew is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Priscilla Morgan Fry; brother, James S. Fry; parents, Donald J. Fry and Eleanor Stewart Fry.

Stew is survived by his sister, Lexi Stevens and her husband Dick Stevens, of Montgomery, TX; his niece, Megan Stevens of Houston, TX; his daughter, Leslie Fry of Denver, CO; his son, Morgan Fry of Arvada, CO; and his S/O Priscilla Wright Calhoun of Highlands Ranch, CO.

Stew was a very generous person who loved his family and friends and was always ready to laugh. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm Friday, September 14th at Drinkwine Mortuary. There will be a private burial in Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
