Douglas Graeme McKinnon

We sadly announce the passing of Douglas Graeme McKinnon on January 22, 2017. Doug was born March 09, 1928, in Kamloops British Columbia Canada to John H. McKinnon (Wycagomah Nav Scotea) and Elsie M. Martin (Tower, MN). He grew up in Edmonton and Calgary Canada. He joined the Navy in 1945, was stationed on the western Pacific island of Saipan until WWII ended, and was honorably discharged in 1948. He then enrolled at the University of Denver, receiving his BS Degree in 1952 and a JD degree in 1954. During his time at DU, Doug served as captain of the university’s first hockey team. He married his wife Patricia Collins in 1950 and had three children. She preceded him in death in 1997. Doug had a long successful law career and was instrumental in starting youth hockey in the Denver metro area. He is survived by his committed life partner Karson Kucera, his three children Debby, Kevin, Mike, and two grandchildren Tyler and Miranda. No service to be held at this time.
