Ed, as he was known to anyone who met him, was born on October 6, 1921 in Louviers Colorado in a house four homes away from the one he passed away in. He was the son of John and Emily, and brother to Jack, Chuck, Jim, Patsy and Pearl. He attended Littleton High School. He met the love of his life Clara when he would deposit his paycheck at the Littleton National Bank where she was a teller. They married in August 1944 after his service in the Pacific with the Navy during World War II. Ed was very proud of his service and wore a “Navy WWII” cap everywhere he went.
Ed and Clara had been married 58 wonderful years when Clara passed in 2002. They had their only son Keith, who lives in Littleton, in December of 1947.
Ed worked at the Dupont Explosives factory at Louviers until retirement. It was a dangerous occupation, but with only his high school education he was promoted several times and ultimately rose to a supervisor position over two parts of the plant. He was well-known for his generosity and giving smile. His passions were always outdoor related as he loved to fish on the Platte River near Deckers and often traveled to Gunnison to fish the Gunnison River. He tied flies for himself and others for many years. Later in life, he learned to knit and knitted scarves, stocking caps, sweaters, booties and comforters as gifts for practically everyone he met. He is also survived by his grandson Michael who lives in Highlands Ranch Colorado.
