Eleanor Ruth Dreitz

It is with both sadness and joy that the family of Eleanor Ruth (Ardueser) Dreitz announces her passing from this life to Heaven on December 26, 2017 at the age of 91.

Eleanor was predeceased in death by her loving husband, Wilbert A. Dreitz, and four of their children: Phyllis, Stephen, Clayton and Victor Dreitz. 

Shortly after Eleanor was born to Walter and Alta Ardueser on June 5, 1926, the family moved from Belden, Nebraska to Bethune, Colorado.  She spent her early years experiencing the cruel conditions of the dust bowl that plagued farm communities of the "dirty 30's."  She rode bareback to a one room schoolhouse for her elementary education.  She attended Bethune High where she was a cheerleader and played the piano for all of the school productions.  After graduation she attended one year at Colorado Agricultural College (Aggies) in Fort Collins. When her older brother, Loren, left to aid in the war effort Eleanor was needed at home to aid her father in the family farm effort. The cultivation skills she learned both at college and on the farm were displayed in later years by her beautiful, bountiful gardens.

Offering her a much needed break after the summer wheat harvest, her father escorted her to the 4th of July dance in town.  It was there in 1945 that she met a handsome soldier home on leave.  Wilbert and Eleanor were married April 30, 1946.  They went on to share both happiness and heartache until his death in 2007.

Eleanor is survived by her 2 daughters, Celia (Dreitz) Kulbe and Anita (Dreitz) West; 3 granddaughters, Vanessa (Kulbe) Hebert, Veronica (Kulbe) Mueller and Jessica (Steffen) Flynn; as well as 7 great grandchildren, Sam and Sydney Hebert, Madison and Mitchell Mueller, Giana and Trinity Bruno and Connor Flynn.
