Gordon "Gordie" Bergo Obituary

Gordon “Gordie” Bergo, 82, who split time between Peoria, Arizona and Pelican Rapids, Minnesota passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 4th in Littleton Colorado.

Gordie was born in Turtle Lake, North Dakota to Bernard and Augustine “Auggie” Bergo on December 18, 1936. He attended grade school and high school in Turtle Lake. After high school he enlisted in the US Army. He was in the Army from 1956-1958. He got out of the army in October 1958 and moved to Fargo. It was February 1959 that he met Rita Bergo while attending a dance at Interstate Business College. He told his friends after the dance, “I am going to marry her”. A little over a year later on May 21, 1960 he married Rita L. Bergo in Fargo, North Dakota.

It was shortly after they were married that they started their family. Welcoming their first and only son Steven Thomas in 1961 followed by Julie Lynn 1962, Jill Suzanne 1967 and then Cassandra Beth 1969. Gordie’s children were his joy, but you would never know it as he was too humble to ever brag about them or their successes. Gordie and Rita were married for 50 years and 21 days. Gordie lost Rita, his wife and best friend on June 10th, 2010.

Gordie graduated from North Dakota State University in 1962. He worked as a heavy truck finance and lease rep for Wallwork Financial for 31 years. Then he went on to start the heavy truck finance division at Wells Fargo for another 5 years. The last 20 years he worked as a consultant for Trans Lease, Inc. in Denver, Colorado and many other truck and trailer dealerships around the country. It wasn’t until July 11, 2019 that Gordie finally hung up his hat and retired. Gordie loved the youth, he influenced many people, his passion was to mentor young people and teach them about the truck lease business.

After Rita’s passing he was fortunate enough to have met Sandra “Sandie” Feichtner. They married on November 10, 2013. Gordie was fortunate enough to have shared 5 years and 3 months with her and her family. Until he lost her unexpectedly on Jan 5, 2018. Gordie went through a lot in the past few years. He not only lost his wife Rita of 50 years but he lost his daughter Jill Patton in October 2017, his second wife Sandy Jan 2018 and then his sister Lois Madigan in Feb 2018. Gordie was a tough man but he felt the void in his life after losing 4 very influential women.
