James Donald Kirkpatrick, 27, was born on October 15, 1991 and passed away on March 5, 2019. James is survived by his father and mother, Donald (Bob) and Carla Kirkpatrick, sister Kira (Yancy) Valentine, sister Kitty (Devin Rice) Kirkpatrick, four nieces (Charity, Delaney, Sophia and Rayn), two nephews (Hunter and Deakon), aunts, uncles, cousins and grandmother, Lee Ann Webb. James was preceded in death by his grandparents James (Jim) and Theodora (Teddy) Kirkpatrick, grandfather Roger (Turk) Turczynski, his uncle Max Hooker and cousin James Hooker.
James was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He had an amazing infectious and genuine smile that lit up a room and made you want to smile back, he loved deeply and fiercely, was immensely loyal, incredibly selfless, and extremely kind. James’ kindness was shown and demonstrated with children, the elderly, strangers and animals. He was a gentle soul and was happiest when he was helping and assisting family, friends or strangers in need. He overcame physical and health obstacles and became an accomplished midfield lacrosse player in high school and college. He loved the outdoors whether it was hiking or camping, from flowers to trees, valleys to mountains, rivers to oceans - he loved to explore nature’s wonders with his friends and his dogs. His jokes, hugs and love will be missed forever and ever and he leaves behind an enormous ache in the hearts of those that knew and loved him.
James was open about his depression. He was striving to become an advocate for those who suffer in silence. He wanted to help others with resource knowledge and used his struggle as a beacon of hope for others to know they are not alone in their silent battle.
He was a beautiful soul. We will grieve for James because his light that once blessed us is gone too soon.
Just as James was a blessing and gift to us in life, his passing is a gift that keeps on giving by his generosity in helping to save lives as a Registered Donor.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of James to Hope for Depression Research Foundation www.hopefordepression.org or MaxFund a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter www.maxfund.org
