Jean Butler Obituary

Jean Catherine (Hay) Butler was born on February 25, 1934 in Rawlins Wyoming to John Wesley Hay and Alice Catherine (Byrnes) Hay. She peacefully passed away on April 9, 2018.  She was married to Ray Butler on September 13, 1966. . She was preceded in death by her parents John and Alice Hay, her older brother John Hay of Ft. Steele, Wyoming.  Her son Gary Butler and nephew Verlin Everist.

She is survived by her husband Ray Butler of 51 years. her younger sister Dorothy Everist of Las Vegas ,Nevada,  Daughter Alicia Samuelson (husband  Greg Samuelson) Yampa, Colorado, Grandson Cody Samuelson (wife Victoria) Helena, Montana, Granddaughter Kaycee Sidwell (husband Tyrel Sidwell)  Eaton Colorado and Granddaughter Kelsey Samuelson Hayden, Colorado. Her Great Grandchildren Jordan, Kara, Paisley and Taylor Sidwell of Eaton, Colorado, Sister in Law Leone Hay Ft. Steele Wyoming, Niece Marie Smith (husband Dale Smith) Hamp & Cassie Smith Billings Montana, Niece Marji Gilbert  (husband Gary Gilbert) Elijah & Issac Gilbert, Ft. Steele Wyoming, Niece  Jeannie Childress ( Sara, Laura, & James) Las Vegas Nevada, and her  Aunt Elaine Hay and cousin Nancy Hay of Loveland Colorado

Jean grew up in Rawlins and Sinclair Wyoming, Graduating from Rawlins high school.in 1952.  She attended Northwestern Jr. College in Sterling Colorado. Was married to Leo  Gordan O’Shea (Deceased).  Later moving to Longmont Colorado with her parents and daughter Alicia where she was a book keeper for Golden Transfer of Longmont. In 1966 she met Ray Butler at a dance and within a year they were married on September 13, 1966 and she then moved to Littleton Colorado. A year later her son Gary was born.

Jean loved little children and so therefor set up her own day care business which she lovingly ran for many years. Jean loved reading, chocolate, collecting Barbie dolls (especially the holiday ones). Jean loved her dachshund dogs. Peggy. Heidi, Lilly, Bridget and Jack. She thoroughly enjoyed shopping; she was happiest during the holidays and loved anything to do with the holidays for instance Halloween with all the orange pumpkins, and Christmas decorating. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens.

Funeral Service will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, April 17th at Drinkwine Family Mortuary.  Interment will follow the service at 1PM at Foothills Garden of Memory, Longmont, CO.
