Jewel Pratt Obituary

Jewel Pratt passed away peacefully on September 8, 2019, at the retirement facility in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, where she lived for the last three years.

Jewel was born in Kimberly, Idaho. Her parents were George and Mamie Jones, and she joined three older brothers, who doted on her. Jewel lived in Kimberly until she graduated from high school, where she as a straight "A" student. Her hard work earned her a two-year scholarship at the University of Denver.

While in college she met Kenneth Pratt, a veteran returning from WWII and studying engineering at DU. They married at the end of her second year college.

When Ken graduated, they moved to Boise, Idaho and spent eight years there before being transferred back to Denver. Except for a year and half in New Jersey, they spend most of their married life in Denver, Colorado area.

Jewel taught sixth grade for three years while in Boise. After moving back to Denver, she returned to the University of Denver and earned a degree in Music Education. She then taught music for eighteen years in the Aurora public schools, a suburb of Denver.

Jewel and Ken have two children, a daughter, Lorraine, who is a Certified Public Accountant and is retired from her own business and a son, Ron, who teaches mathematics at a college in California.

Jewel is preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers.  She and Ken have two grandsons and five great grandsons.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 2PM, SouthPark #2 Clubhouse, 2850 West Long Avenue, Littleton, Colorado 80120.  Private Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Colorado Springs, close to her parents' graves. This was Jewel's request.
