Joan ("Jo-Anne") Horigan of Littleton, passed away at the age of 93 on December 20, 2019.
She was the beloved wife of James E. Horigan, international oil & gas attorney and the author of "Chance or Design: On the Origin of the Universe." She was the loving mother of three children, Susan, Dan and Nancy and the grandmother of Jonathan, Lauren and Sean Datz.
Joan was born in Oklahoma City in 1926 to parents Spurg Murry and Lessie Coulthard and had one brother, Victor Carl. She attended Classon High School where she met and married James Horigan. The family then moved to Beaumont and Dallas, Texas and then to Rye, NY, where Jim worked for Mobile Oil Company. The family settled in the Bow Mar area of Littleton in 1961. In 1969 they moved to London, England and lived there for approximately 6 years while Jim opened up his law practice servicing oil companies operating in the North Sea. The family finally returned to Bow Mar in 1975. Joan then received her Bachelors degree from CU-Denver in communications. Jim and Joan remained in Bow Mar until Jim died in 1989; Joan then moved to the near-by "Fairways At Pinehurst" and lived there for approximately the next 25 years.
Joan's heart was always in Bow Mar and with the many wonderful friends she made there. She was very active and played tennis, golf, took long walks, loved to travel and dance. She was an active member of the Bow Mar Garden Club and regularly attended bible study. She was a devout Catholic and attended Light of the World Catholic Church.
Joan was a lot of fun to be around, told many funny stories and had a lot of energy. She will be greatly missed.
In her later years, Joan was wonderfully cared for by the staff at Abundant Blessings in Centennial, CO and by her private caregiver, Jean Diehl.
