Joy LaVonne (Douty) Williamson

Joy LaVonne (Douty) Williamson, 91, of Denver, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2017. 

She was the daughter of John Douty and Margaret (Graham) Douty, born June 14, 1926 on a farm in Calhoun County, Iowa.  In 1949, she married John Robert Williamson in Des Moines, Iowa.  They moved to the Denver area in 1953, and raised their family here.  She was a long-time member of Littleton United Methodist Church.  In recent years, she especially enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren.

Joy is survived by her children Carol Williamson and Diane (Jim) Hughes, grandchildren Laurie (Kevin) Brockett, Kevin (Sarah) Hughes, and Lindsay McElroy, and great grandchildren, Tess and McCabe Brockett, Kaitlynn, Jesse, and Wyatt Hughes, and Ayden, Kaleb, Gavin, and Colin, brother Marvin (Shirley) Douty, nephews David and Dana (Joni) Douty, and niece Connie (Bob) Wells.

She was preceded in death by John, her husband of 51 years.

A committal service will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 12:15 PM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, staging area “C” followed by a Memorial Service on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 2:30 PM at Littleton United Methodist Church, 5894 S. Datura St, Littleton, CO 80120.

The family suggests memorial contributions in her name to the Music Ministry at Littleton United Methodist Church, at the above address.
