Kathryn Wilkening Obituary

Kathryn L. Wilkening, 87, of Littleton, Colorado died October 20, 2019.  Kathryn was born in Huffman, Arkansas on May 22, 1932 to Charles (Charlie) and Alice Appleton.

Kathryn married Billie Wilkening in 1950 and they celebrated 69 years of marriage in February. They began their marriage in Sikeston Missouri on Billie’s parents farm.  They moved to St. Louis County Missouri a few years later where Kathryn worked at Universal Match for a short period packing parachutes for the Korean war and then began working as a time keeper for Emerson Electric.  Once her children were born she worked primarily as a caregiver for her own children, grandchildren, and others until her retirement.

Billie and Kathryn visited her sister in Colorado in 1969 and decided to move to Colorado in 1972 where they resided in Lakewood, Parker, Castle Rock and finally Littleton.

Kathryn’s primary passion was caring for others and reading.  She was a member of Abiding Word Lutheran Church in Highlands Ranch and loved the Lord dearly. During her later years she read her bible a few hours daily and when she wasn’t reading her bible she enjoyed reading fiction on her Nook and Ipad, as she also had a fondness for technology.

She was preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Lutea Shockley and Mary Nell Wolverton and a brother, J.C. Appleton.

Survivors include her husband Billie, Son; William (Bill) Wilkening, Daughters; Patti Lynch and Pamela Flemming, 5 grandchildren; Christopher Flemming, Ciana (C.J.)
