Margaret "Peg" Ann Bushnell

May 17, 1935 ~ May 15, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Margaret "Peg" Bushnell, 81, formerly of Centennial, CO. passed away peacefully in her sleep two days short of her 82nd Birthday. She was born in Ponca City, OK to the Reverend William S. And Mildred H. (Hollinger) Meyer. In her early childhood they moved along to Rochester, NY and subsequently on to Los Angeles, CA in 1950.
Peg attended Marlborough School graduating in 1953 as well as the College of Wooster in Ohio. She graduated from college, performed her Senior piano recital and married her college sweetheart, Walter J. Bushnell, in the same day June 10, 1957. At that time she joined Walt in Ann Arbor, MI where he attended medical school at the University of Michigan.
In 1965 they moved to Littleton, Colorado with their 3 children, David (Kristina) Bushnell, Barbara (Timothy) Pleune and Diane Blackburn.
Over the next few decades Peg immersed herself in her love of Art in many ways. She taught enameling at the Arthritis Craft Shop and Art at Carl Sandburg Elementary as a volunteer. She became a member/ artist of the Littleton Fine Arts Guild and had notable talent in enameling, water color painting, macrame, quilting and jewelry making.  She and Walt enjoyed almost annual trips to Taos and Santa Fe collecting art to fill their home. Later she became a Docent at the Denver Art Museum.
In the 70's while completing additional educational degrees she acted as the Director of Volunteers at the Hospice of St. John and later AMC Cancer Research Center.

After spending many childhood summers in Estes Park with her family she developed a life long love of the area.  She and Walt purchased a cabin there where they spent many summers with children, grandchildren and friends.
Peg also had a passion for reading and cooking. Talents which she shared with her daughters.
She is survived by her husband, Walt and her three children as well as her brother Richard A. (Wardlee) Meyer of Tucson, Arizona and 7 grandchildren; Joseph and Brigitte Bushnell, Matthew, Christopher and Anna Miller, Nicholas Nolan and Augustus Ruppert. 


Services Monday May 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church, 9720 US Hwy 85 N., Highlands Ranch, CO. 80125 with a reception to follow.
