Marlys Hammond

Marlys Hammond, 52, of Erie, passed away on October 16, 2017.

Marlys was born on December 4, 1964 to Cecilia Frances Kelsey and William Knight Hammond in Denver, Colorado.  She grew up in Aurora and Idaho Springs.  She also lived in Indiana, California, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania before moving back to Colorado.

Marlys is a graduate of Clear Creek Secondary School in Idaho Springs, Colorado.  She got her Bachelor’s Degree from Lake Forest College in Illinois, her Master’s Degree from the University of Kansas, and her PhD from the California Institute of Technology.

She devoted her career in the pharmaceutical industry to helping those in need.  She was also involved in many charities and helped in the community whenever possible.  When she moved back to Colorado, she was a chemistry and test prep tutor.

Marlys is survived by two brothers; Eric William Hammond, and Kirk Edwards Hammond, a niece; Aimee Kathleen Stone, and nephew; Hank Hammond.

She was preceded in death by her mother; Cecilia Frances Kelsey, and father; William Knight Hammond.  She also leaves behind numerous close and loved relatives and friends.

She loved baking, cats, being charitable, and the Cubs.  She was loved and will be missed by all.

The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 30, 2017, 1:30 PM at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 6673 W. Chatfield Ave., Littleton, CO  80128.
