Steven William Klingman, Colonel, US Air Force, 46, passed away on 1 May, 2019 in Aurora, Colorado.
Visitation from 3-8pm, Friday 10 May at Drinkwine Family Mortuary in Littleton. Services will be held at the United States Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel on 13 May at 10:00am.
Steve was born in Wheat Ridge, Colorado in 1972, and graduated from Wheat Ridge High School in 1990. He attended New Mexico Military Institute for one year, then entered the Air Force Academy the following year. He graduated from the Academy in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Sciences and a Minor in German.
Steve graduated from pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, in 1996. He flew C-21s and E-3s for the Air Force, and was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base (Nebraska), Tinker AFB (Oklahoma), Elmendorf AFB (Alaska), Maxwell AFB (Alabama), Patch Barracks (Stuttgart, Germany), NATO Air Base Geilenkirchen (Germany), Langley AFB (Virginia), and at the US Embassy in Bucharest, Romania.
Along the way, life happened. In 1997, Steve married Tanya, who also graduated from the Academy in 1995. During their travels, they welcomed two sons, Everett and Ryan, into the family and the Air Force way of life. Steve's parents, Bill and Charlotte, and his sister Lindsie and her family, and most of his extended family live in the Denver area. So no matter where the Air Force took Steve during his 24 year career, Colorado was always home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Fisher House Foundation. Fisher Houses provide military families temporary housing close to a loved one in the hospital for an illness, disease, or injury. FisherHouse.org
