Alfonso (Al) Richard Valdez passed peacefully on June 24, 2021. Alfonso was born on November 10, 1936 in Antonito Colorado. He was proceeded in death by his parents Alfonso and Mary Valdez, brother Arthur and his in-laws Sylvester and Lucille Seifert. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Mary Valdez. He is also survived by his children Stephanie Garcia (Al Gurule) Yvonne Valdez (Tracy Johnson) and his grandchildren Frank (Andy) Garcia, Benjamin Garcia, Alfonso (Myrna) Garcia, Lorenzo (Jones) Garcia, and Chase (Blake) Johnson. Great-Grandchildren Anthony, Makylah, and Myleigh. Brothers and sisters Ray (Claudia) Valdez, Larry (Pam) Valdez, Linda Valdez, MaryAnne Brown, Priscilla (Richard) Martinez, Ann (Ken) Bestgen, Loretta (Kurt) Nelson, Rose Anne (Barry) Cook and Jeff (Anna) Valdez and numerous nieces and nephews. Al served in the United States Air Force as an arial photographer. Alfonso also worked for Crews Beggs and Joslins in Pueblo and Denver before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and was an avid water skier. Al also loved to travel to Mexico where he loved speaking Spanish and to Hawaii where he enjoyed scuba diving. As Al’s health declined, he had a love for the simpler things in life. He was a volunteer for the Arc of Pueblo and was a wonderful face painter and was also known affectionately as “The popcorn stud.”. He was proud of his lifetime membership with the Elks. He loved family visits and talking about his younger years and of course, his cowboy movies.

Viewing and visitation will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 13th from 9:00-10:00 AM with Funeral Mass to immediately follow at 10:00AM. 13120 E Kentucky Ave Aurora CO 80010. Burial will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on Thursday July 15, 2021 at 10:30 am with full military honors. Ft. Logan National Cemetery 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd. Denver, CO 80236.
