Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Annetta Carol Schwalm, 80, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away on June 17, 2021. She was born to parents Ernest Franklin and Kathryn Alice (Brenn) Lutz, on June 9, 1941 in St. John, Kansas.
She graduated from St. John High School in 1959.
She went on to study Elementary Education at Emporia State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She also received a Master’s Degree in Computer Education in 1983.
Annetta worked as an Elementary Teacher at Mark Hopkins Elementary for 32 years. After 32 years of service, she retired from Littleton Public Schools in 2000.
Her life was characterized by a great love for her family. Annetta enjoyed spending time with her eight grandchildren, attending recitals, sporting and school events, and planning family meals and gatherings that have become beloved family traditions. She used her passion for learning and teaching to impact the lives of not only her grandchildren, but the countless children she taught and the student teachers she mentored over the years. Annetta loved reading and singing and was a part of the Madrigals singing group. She was also active in the Alpha Delta Kappa Educational Women’s Sorority where she served as the Colorado State President. After being diagnosed with Lung Cancer in 2013, it was a testament to her faith, positive spirit, and resilience that she was able to overcome the many challenges she faced in her cancer journey.
Annetta met Roy E. Schwalm, Jr. in 1959. They were married on June 10, 1962 in St. John Kansas. Together they raised three children: Rachelle Romano (Schwalm), Racynda Meisner (Schwalm), Roy E. Schwalm, III.
Annetta is survived by Roy E. Schwalm, Jr.(Husband) Rachelle Romano (Daughter), John Romano (Son-in-Law), Jenna Romano (Grandaughter), Christina Romano (Grandaughter), Traysa Romano (Grandaughter), Racynda Meisner (Daughter), Jeff Meisner (Son-in-Law), Mallory McCamy (Granddaughter), Scout McCamy (Grandson-in Law), Isaac Meisner (Grandson), April Meisner (Granddaughter-in-Law), Roy E. Schwalm , III (Son), Kara Schwalm (Daughter-In-Law), Tyler Schwalm (Grandson), Emry Schwalm (Granddaughter) and Rigby Schwalm (Grandson) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by Ernest Lutz (Father), Kathryn Lutz (Mother), June Morton (Sister), Clara Hathaway (Sister), Eldon Lutz (Brother), Mary Gibson (Sister) and Ernesteen Rudy (Sister).
The family has entrusted Drinkwine Family Mortuary with the arrangements. A Visitation will be held at Drinkwine Family Mortuary, 999 W. Littleton, Blvd., Littleton, CO 80120, on Sunday, June 27th from 4-6pm. The funeral will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1701 W. Caley Avenue, Littleton, CO 80120, at 11am on Monday, June 28th.
