Audrey Price Obituary

Audrey Price, 82, of Mundelein, IL passed away on Tuesday April 30, 2024.

Audrey was born in Chicago, IL on September 27, 1941, to the late Joe and Bea Cappy and was adopted by her loving aunt and uncle, Anne and Jacob Suckman. Audrey spent most of her life in the Chicago area. She grew up in the South Shore neighborhood on Chicago’s south side, graduating from Hyde Park High School in 1958.  She eventually settled in Arlington Heights, where she raised her children Steven and (Edward) Spencer Price. Audrey spent her post-retirement years in the Del Webb Grand Dominion community in Mundelein, IL, before moving to Denver, CO in her last year of life, in order to be closer to her family. Audrey had an outgoing and bubbly personality, making friends easily at each stage of her life. She built a close network of friends in the Northgate neighborhood of Arlington Heights, many of whom she remained close with throughout her life. After moving to Mundelein, she quickly found a new circle of friends, often playing mahjong and spending time at the community clubhouse. Her charm followed her to Denver, where she found a new group of friends in her new surroundings and was quick to welcome new people to the community, especially those that sat alone.

Audrey found the greatest joy in motherhood and grandmotherhood. She dedicated her time to spending time and showing love to her family, often finding herself as a Cub Scout Den Mother, bringing her children to their countless sporting activities, or playing dress-up and doing crafts with her granddaughters. Audrey loved holidays, her favorite being Halloween, when she loved to make costumes for her children, dress up and was even known to her grandchildren and grand nephews and nieces as “Witchy Audrey.” She never missed singing “Happy Birthday” to each of her children and grandchildren, whether in-person, over the phone, or even in a voicemail, regardless of whether she lived in the same city or many thousands of miles away from the birthday boy or girl. And if she could find a singing stuffed animal for each child’s gift, all the better.

Audrey is survived by her sons Steven (Liza) Price and Spencer Price, and her granddaughters Olivia Price, Addison Price and Elia Price, and by her step grandchildren Christian Orr and Addison Orr. She is also survived by her niece Lee Lewin and nephew Alan (Rhonda) Messinger.

There will be a memorial celebration of Audrey’s life on June 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the home of Lee Lewin, 6421 N Kilbourn Ave, Lincolnwood, IL 60712. In remembrance, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association https://act.alz.org.
