Barbara (Piccone) Wheeler, 84, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on August 16, 2025. Born on February 3, 1941, in Louisville, Colorado, Barbara was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
She spent her childhood in rural Wyoming with her grandparents and moved back to Denver, Colorado for high school, where she met her future husband, Bill. Through her various roles, Barbara dedicated her life to serving others. Whether it was creating a loving home for her husband and children or working at Honeywell or The Children’s Hospital, she approached each and every day with positivity and grace. She was a kind, quiet, and resilient person. Her humble approach elevated those around her, and she will be remembered for living a life of purpose.
She is survived by her children: Karen (Steven) Riley of Slippery Rock Pennsylvania, Michael Wheeler of Denver, grandchildren: Paige (Colin) Streets of North Palm Beach Florida, Colin (Shelby) Riley of Lakewood, Meghan Wheeler; and great-grandchildren: Margot, Wade, Savanah, and Bentley. She is also survived by her brother: Robert (Nancy) Piccone of Portland Maine, and Patricia Shephard of Phoenix, Arizona.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life William (Bill) Wesley Wheeler Jr., parents, Joseph Piccone and Lucille Shephard, and siblings Joseph Piccone and Rita Ready.
The family will be holding a private celebration of her life and she will be inturned with her late husband at Littleton Cemetery.
