Betty Jean Olander passed away January 7, 2026 at home from complications from bladder cancer with her loving family by her side. She was 89 years young.
Betty was born April 23, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ralph and Beulah Munyon and was the middle of three children. She married Lawrence Olander November 11, 1955, in Des Moines. They moved to Colorado in 1963 and raised their three children (Larry, Lance and Lisa) in Littleton. She worked in real estate for various companies for 30 years.
Betty was a great cook, dancer, mom and grandmother. Her favorite dishes to make were spaghetti and meatballs, fried chicken and pastachena. Betty and husband Larry could be seen around town following popular swing bands and often were the first on the dance floor and last to leave.
Betty had a passion for Colorado sports, with her favorite being the Denver Broncos….she,and her best friend, Bette, had season tickets for years. You could also find her at Colorado Rockies games with her children and/or grandchildren. Betty’s favorite times were when she could have all her family together to celebrate anything.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Lawrence, son Mark and grandson Jordan. She is survived by her sons, Larry (Gail), Lance (Teri), and daughter Lisa (Paul) and ten grandchildren: Lawren, Shelby, Hayden, Bryce, Shaye, Cayde, Leigh, Erik, Taylor and Brady and 12 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Betty’s Life will begin at 1:30PM on February, 7, 2026 at Curtis Ballroom, 5345 Landmark Place, Greenwood Village CO 80111.
