Beverly L. Spradley

Beverly Spradley died peacefully on July 16, 2023 at the age of 91. Bev was born to Beulah Raney Lawrence and Charles Clifford Lawrence on January 5, 1932 in Peoria, Illinois. She graduated from Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in Education. She moved from the Midwest to Denver and taught at Kepner and Rishel Junior High School. She married John Olin Spradley on August 20, 1960 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Denver, Colorado. She and John were married for 49 years until his death on January 10, 2009. Bev worked for many years at Metropolitan State University of Denver and touched the lives of many students. After retirement, Bev continued to serve students, tutoring at the Education Center in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. In 2003 Bev and John moved to Cortez, Colorado to be closer to their grandchildren. She was a talented weaver and devoted many years to honing her craft. Her friends and family were often gifted with the products of Bev’s loom. She will truly be missed by the many people whose lives she changed for the better. Bev is survived by her three daughters, Janet Spradley, Cathy Knox (Mark) and Julie Spradley as well as her four grandchildren, Sarah Parmenter (Michael), Aaron Knox (Coral), Rachel Knox and Isaiah Knox and one great-grandchild, Daniel.
