Chad Crawfurd Obituary

Chad Michael Crawfurd passed away on November 27, 2021, at the age of 51.

Chad was born on December 20, 1969, to Debbie Woodby and Mike Theeke in Ann Arbor, Michigan. From a young age, Chad was a miracle, constantly defying all odds. When he was only 18 months old, he developed a malignant brain tumor and after treatment, doctors felt that he had only a short time to live. Around the age of 5 the tumor returned, and his future was unknown. By God’s grace and Chad’s determination, he lived with us until just short of his 52nd birthday.

Debbie and Chad moved to Denver in 1974 where Debbie met and married Tony Crawfurd who adopted Chad and loved him as his son. Chad graduated from South High school in 1990 and took college courses where he learned sign language. Chad lived on his own in Littleton for 15 years and became a well-known favorite employee of Arby’s at Broadway and Powers.

Over the last few decades Chad has had a couple of medical episodes that required some intensive treatment, resulting in longer hospital stays. He received care at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona in 2005 and then at UC Health in Aurora, Colorado in 2016. He recovered well and lived a beautiful life.

Chad was an absolute joy to be around. He was very polite, loving and kind and was always offering a helping hand. He was quick to give a compliment, tell you a joke or a story, and was always offering you some of his gum or candy. Chad loved singing Karaoke and loved to dance. He loved being with his family and friends and was constantly surrounded by both, who all loved him so much.

Preceding Chad in death is his father, Mike Theeke, and his grandparents, Eleanor and LaVerne Theeke, Keith and Marion Woodby and Francis and Allen Crawfurd. He is survived by his mother, Debbie Crawfurd; adopted father, Tony Crawfurd; his brother Chris and his partner Alex Goldstone; his sister Sara McMahon and her husband, Jeremy, and their three children Parker, Grayson, and Trey.

Chad will be laid to rest in a family plot by his grandparents in Michigan on December 14, 2021.
