Charles “Chuck” Howard Blount died following a 12 year battle with Alzheimer’s, on September 10, 2019 at the age of 84 in Littleton, CO.
Chuck was born in Syracuse, NY and grew up in Sandy Creek/Lacona, NY. He attended 4 years at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts & graduated in 1952. He served for 2 years in the The US Army as a paratrooper after the Korean War and graduated from Syracuse University in 1959. He set up home in Pulaski, NY to raise his family. He worked for Travelers Insurance Company, was an agent for North Western Insurance Company and participated in the Pulaski Volunteer Fire Department.
He leaves behind: 3 children, Karen Elizabeth Blount (Renee Harcourt), Charles Stephen Blount (Sybll Romley), Kathleen McClintock McNeil-Blount (Sharon McNeil-Blount), a treasured grandson, Brandon Stephen Blount & numerous friends. Sadly, he was predeceased by his beloved grandson Ryan Charles Blount, his parents Henry Floyd & Edna Thomas Blount and his brother Floyd Thomas Blount.
Anyone who knew Chuck will remember his jovial storytelling and warm laughter. He had a life long love of the outdoors especially the Adirondack Mountains and Tanager Lodge Children’s Camp, both as a camper and as a staff member. He climbed New York’s highest 46 peaks twice, once in summer and once in the winter. He enjoyed camping with his young family at the family camp on Raquette Lake and skiing at Tupper Lake Ski Area. In the 1970s, Chuck was one of the founding members of the NY State Search & Rescue Team.
