Obituary

Charlotte Kay (Wolcott) Phares was born December 21, 1940 to Charles and Mary Kathryn (Yuille) Wolcott. Charlotte married Roger Phares on December 27, 1958.

Charlotte was raised on a farm near the small town of Ludlow, MO. After graduating high school, she married Roger and they headed west to Colorado. Charlotte was a devoted mother, wife and homemaker. She also enjoyed meeting many of her neighbors while selling AVON for over 20 years. When she wasn’t taking the kids to football, soccer, ballet or band practice, she enjoyed spending time bowling. Though, her real pleasure was sitting quietly and reading a book. She must have financed Danielle Steele with all the books she read. A few summer vacations were spent traveling with Roger and the kids while pulling a camper trailer. Even back then, one had to be careful to not leave trash out for the bears in Yellowstone.  Charlotte was fortunate to travel to many places in the world such as Germany, Italy, England and Alaska, just to name a few.  After living in Colorado for almost 30 years, she and Roger moved to Minnesota and finally retired in Arizona.  Last year, Charlotte gave in to her children and moved back to Colorado. She was able to spend this last year amongst her family and friends, time they will forever be thankful for. When telling someone what she was thinking, Charlotte was known for having no filter. To those who truly knew her, she was a feisty, little spitball of fire and will be deeply missed.

Charlotte was predeceased by her parents, one sister Deborah (Wolcott) Smith of Kansas and one son Michael Phares of Littleton.

Charlotte leaves behind many admiring friends and family who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her husband Roger; son, Pat (Angel) of Highlands Ranch, CO; daughter Cindy Schafer (Kyle) of Highlands Ranch, CO; daughter-in-law Deborah of Littleton, CO. Grandchildren; Joshua Phares (Megan), Swansboro, NC; Christopher Phares (Dana), Huntersville, NC; Kathryn Phares, Littleton, CO; Cassidy Phares, Highlands Ranch, CO; Kendall Nelson (Mitch), Fort Collins, CO; Nicholas Schafer (Jill Montgomery), Castle Rock, CO; Derek Neal (Kelly), Gunnison, CO; Krystal Stookey (Colin), Littleton, CO. Great-grandchildren Kimberlyn Phares, Lilliann Phares, Easton Phares, Austin Phares, Audrey Phares, Quinn Clark-Phares, Caroline Stookey, Stetson Stookey, and Gale Neal. One brother Jerry Wolcott (Kathy), Tampa, FL, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
