Christeen Roberts Obituary

Christeen Elaine Roberts passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026 at the age of 82.  She was born on November 7, 1943 at Porter Hospital in Denver to her parents, Laurence E. Roberts and Esther Gelroth Roberts.  She joined her older brother, Joel L. Roberts, at the family home on South Delaware in Englewood, Colorado, where she lived almost her entire life.  She attended Clayton Elementary School and graduated from Englewood High School in 1961. Christeen loved music. She took piano lessons during her childhood years and also played clarinet in the High School Band. Christeen attended Colorado State College in Greeley, Colorado.

After her college years, she worked first in a doctor’s office and then worked for over twenty-five years in the offices of U.S. West before retiring around 2000.  After retirement she worked for about fifteen years as a greeter at the Walmart on Wadsworth Boulevard where she was well-known by the other employees and customers alike.

Christeen enjoyed participating in the lives of her three nephews, especially remembering them with birthday and Christmas cards and gifts, and traveling long distances to attend special family events and their weddings.  Her older brother, Joel, was a constant part of her support system, helping her navigate many of life’s challenges, following the loss of their father during her young adult years.

Christeen and her mother, Esther, did many activities together including decades of family genealogy research.  Their travels included road trips to Iowa, Kansas, and Kentucky in Esther’s trusty 1971 Chevrolet Vega.  They spent numerous hours poring over microfiche in public libraries, researching courthouse records, and interviewing elderly relatives.  They were particularly interested in the Gelroth family history and the story of their “Germans from Russia” ancestors who immigrated first to Kansas and then to the South Platte Valley in Colorado around 1915.  The Roberts ancestors moved from Kentucky to Iowa to the Brush area about the same time.  Several of her great-grandparents and grandparents on both sides are buried in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.

Christeen was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Englewood since 2000.  She attended faithfully and participated in many of the church activities.  The congregation members and pastor’s family became like an extended family to Christeen, providing love, support, and companionship for her, especially during her years of declining health.

For the last four years, Christeen resided at Golden Orchard Assisted Living in Centennial.  Her family is extremely grateful for the compassionate care that she received from the staff at Golden Orchard and also from the Bristol Hospice staff during her last years.

Christeen was preceded in death by her parents, Laurence E. Roberts and Esther Roberts.  She is survived by her brother, Joel L. Roberts and sister-in-law, Gail Cottrell Roberts of Saint Paul, Minnesota.  Also survived by nephews, Laurence C. Roberts (Thomas Netzband) of San Francisco, California; Evan L. Roberts (Amanda Franklin) of Birmingham, Alabama; and Keith D. Roberts (Christine Roberts) of Saint Paul, Minnesota.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Christeen’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church of Englewood, 3500 S. Logan Street, Englewood.  Private family burial will be at Littleton Cemetery.

The family suggests that donations in Christeen’s memory be made to First Presbyterian Church of Englewood, 3500 S. Logan Street, Englewood, Colorado 80113.
