David Jenkins Obituary

David (Dave) Richard Jenkins, 95, of Centennial, Colorado passed away October 4th, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

Dave was born September 17th, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio, one of three children to Dave and Edith (Locher). He was preceded in death by both parents, wife Patricia (Hoffman) Jenkins of 59 years, stepmother Thelma and sister Betty Zellers.

He married Patricia Anne Hoffman April 14th,1955.  They had three children who survive; Jodi Jenkins (Gerald Massie) of West Chicago, Illinois, David (Kathy) Jenkins of Centennial, Colorado, and Scott (Toni) Jenkins of Bloomington, Illinois. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremy) Bellino, Alyssa Jenkins, Mackenzie Jenkins, Zachary Jenkins, Sarah Jane Massie, great grandchild Isabella Bellino, and sisters Eileen (Ray) Rich, Donna (James) Lewis.

Dave graduated from Boardman High School in 1941. He played football for the Boardman Spartans and had the distinction of leading his team to an undefeated season. He attended Ohio State University for a semester before enlisting in the United States Navy.  After World War II ended, he attended Muskingum University to complete his undergraduate degree and continued his education at the University of Cincinnati, receiving a law degree.  Upon graduation he began his career with Allstate Insurance Company in Toledo Ohio, there he met Patricia Hoffman. As Dave furthered his career at Allstate, the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio and then Littleton, Colorado in 1965, where he lived the rest of his life.

Dave loved sports, especially golf and football. He enjoyed a love/hate relationship with the Denver Broncos (don’t we all?) but would almost never miss a game. On a typical Sunday you could find him spending time with his family and watching any sports game broadcast.  He exercised regularly, was an avid reader of all books and had a love of classic movies.

Dave was highly regarded by friends and family.  His smile could light up a room.   He was a loyal friend and possibly the most unhandy person on the planet but was so loved. He will be missed.

The family would like to thank Sunrise Senior Living Center, Denver Hospice, and their staffs for the loving care and support they provided for Dave in his final days.
